Before moving to Connect2 we issued AV equipment on our Library Management System and had an in-house booking system. The solution that was developed to enable libraries to offer public access to computers, including the use of Netloan, has proven so successful that it has been used as the default model for other parts of the council who need to provide computer access to members of the public
It is very quick and easy for our students to log on to connect2, spot the piece of equipment they want and book it. From a technicians point of view, seeing these bookings added to the online website in real time helps us to prepare equipment in advance and therefore allows us to speed up the transaction process when students come to collect their equipment from the loans office counter. From a management point of view using connect2 helps us to generate data including charts and tables that can be used to visually represent the service that we provide.

Connect2 has helped our students to be more proactive in their equipment bookings, and has enabled them to complete briefs and projects, in a way that was impossible on our old 'custom built' system. The whole usage of the loans room is now transparent, with reduced queuing times, more equipment in rotation, and with the ability to book remotely and instantly. We feel the whole resource is now being maximised to its full potential, also helping staff to plan well in advance, and check the availability of kit at our most busy/peak times.
Netloan is, as ever a reliable system. It is probably the most reliable of all our systems; certainly the one that gives me the least headaches anyway.
