dorset county council
our need
Prior to netloan all our PC bookings were carried out manually. This clearly wasn’t satisfactory as it was difficult to achieve consistency across libraries in the county.
our decision
Our new Library Management System, (LMS) Innovative, recommended lorensbergs and netloan. This led to a demonstration with lorensbergs and visits to other library authorities using the solution. It really wasn’t a hard decision between netloan and competitor solutions. We really liked netloan and the features of the product, we were very impressed with the functionality.
our installation
We piloted netloan in February which went smoothly and the solution was rolled out to our final site in July. We have been very impressed as the product is easy to use, and simple to set up and learn. The lorensbergs staff have been very helpful and we now have netloan managing a total of 214 PCs over 34 sites.
lorensbergs’ support has been excellent with nearly instant responses. Training staff has been very straightforward’
the benefits
The flexibility of the system is excellent. We are able to tailor it to our requirements; staff have been given control; and the public are informed about availability - which has led to a much calmer environment.
The ability to set up different user groups is great. We currently have our adult education classes set up completely separately from other PC bookings.
The link to our LMS means that information about our users is transferred through to netloan automatically, for example, those with and without adult permission. This is a really useful feature.
In addition, sending messages to individual users is great and statistics are really helpful. In Swanage (our busiest library) we have been able to report that we have 100% usage of PCs.
"Staff love it - a big success and well worthwhile”
We really like what we’ve seen so far and are eagerly anticipating future developments from lorensbergs.
In summary, netloan is time saving and the whole process has become far more efficient, which greatly benefits our library service.
