the beginning
There were several triggers to the decision to enhance our PC booking management solution netloan public. We knew many customers wanted to handle their own printing without intervention from staff and we were aware how time consuming handling print jobs could be.  We decided that kiosk+ would be a customer friendly solution which freed up staff time.

We saw the kiosk+ demonstrated at the Celtic Connections Conference in 2006 and it offered everything we wanted. As we’ve had a positive experience with netloan public we felt confident that lorensbergs would give us a complementary system that worked just as reliably.

the solution
The installation went smoothly with only one hitch. We discovered that we were using two slightly different barcodes on our customer cards and kiosk+ could only read one of them. Fortunately, lorensbergs were able to adapt the software within a few days.

We have two kiosk+ machines at Barry Library and we have also now ordered a machine for our library at Penarth. Customers may use kiosk+ to pay for printouts and to book time slots on the internet PCs.

We will be extending the use of kiosk+ to enable payment of library fines and other charges in due course.
