A Career in Review with Catherine Cooke at Westminster Libraries
Catherine Cooke is a Systems Officer at Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea Bi-borough Libraries. Lorensbergs talked to Catherine about her long career as a librarian, how she’s seen technology enable better library services, and her experiences as a long-term netloan customer.
Over your time working at Westminster and Bi-borough libraries, what’s inspired and motivated you most?
My career has brought me a lot of satisfaction over the years. I used to be a lending and reference librarian before becoming a systems librarian. So I’ve always felt that I’m not just doing this for the sake of the IT. It’s about knowing what the IT is supporting, the services you’re providing and how much users rely on them; making sure library PCs and printers are working as well as possible for these reasons.
