Accessibility

There are lots of options to help users get on PCs quickly and easily:

  • Advance booking via the web-based interface, AA compliant with WCAG (web content accessibility guidelines) and accredited by the RNIB
  • Walk up PC access can be switched on for all or particular groups of PCs
  • Or you can provide a virtual queuing system

In addition, a kiosk screen allows users to quickly identify and secure a suitable PC slot when in the library. Guest access is also facilitated, with self-registration from the kiosk available as an optional feature depending on your policy.

Print management

Netloan gives users clear print options and pricing on each print job, while staff are able to release jobs with minimal clicks from the web-based admin screen. They can easily redirect or reprint pages.

The netloan virtual printing system increases reliability by creating greater compatibility between print jobs and printers. Printers are easily managed and pricing quickly adjusted in the admin web interface for lighter administration.

Wireless printing and self-service print payment and release options are also available…

Easy admin and reporting

Netloan is a web-based system, all staff and admin functions for all library sites are accessible via the same single web-browser. That’s all bookings, print release, printer management, reporting and all other admin tools in one place, accessible via any device!

Admin tools include opening hours, PC shutdown, broken PC management, messaging, interface customisation, user credit balance, and much more…

N.B. Netloan reports satisfy your CIPFA requirements.

Session control

Control maximum sessions and minutes per user, as well as restrictions around future reservations (e.g. how far in advance). Grace periods and screen locking management can all be detailed in the set up. Group bookings are easy to set up and administer, with options around user log ins.

All sessions and bookings begin by authenticating the user to the LMS, so all PC usage is identified and tracked. If the LMS is down for any reason, a cached mode continues to allow authentication. Netloan connectors are available for all major LMS systems.

At the end of each session, netloan ensures that there is no security risk by automating a full log off between users which clears user profiles and removes personal data.

Self service kiosk in a library

Kiosk integration

Remove the administrative overheads out of print payment and release with a self-service payment kiosk.

Bibliotheca RFID kiosk units with netloan integration allow all book and PC related transactions to be carried out from a single point

Find out more about netloan self-service options on the kiosk here.

Modules for netloan public

netloan Wi-Fi

For user authentication and detailed reporting on library wireless network usage. Netloan Wi-Fi adds control to web access in the library, with settings determining how long users can access Wi-Fi – useful if network speeds slow down at peak times. The module also allows you to identify a user at any point in time, and so meet the requirements of the Digital Economy Act 2010.

Netloan Wi-Fi promotes library membership, with only authenticated members gaining access. Registered guests’ access can also be configured, but can be set up to expire after a shorter timespan to encourage membership.

netloan Wi-Fi print

Enable your library members to print from Android, Apple or Windows phone, laptop or tablet with this latest module from netloan.

Netloan Wi-Fi print gives you the capability to offer wireless printing in the library with minimal change to processes or training. Fully integrated in netloan’s existing print release process, it’s streamlined and practical, making use of current printer, Wi-Fi and kiosk hardware. Further information is available here.

netloan combi

This module adjusts the access privileges or PC settings each time a user makes a booking, depending on the type of session selected. This is facilitated by allowing users to belong to two user groups, each with their own permissions and settings. An example is that two different screen resolutions are made available for a PC session.

netloan charging

For libraries that charge for PC use, netloan charging offers flexibility in how charges are applied, including by site, time of day or user group.

Concessions and free initial minutes are easy to set up. Charging administration is streamlined and refunds facilitated. Self-service payments for PC sessions are available - see the netloan self-service payments kiosks solution.

netloan queue

Facilitating calmer busy periods, this module enables users to join a virtual queue and have a PC automatically assigned once available. The queue can be joined from the kiosk screen, and queue position monitored in an overhead screen. Staff retain discretion on how the queue operates, and can access a queue history at all times.

A single queue can be provided for all PCs in the library, or by area of PCs, with the user choosing which queue to join. A maximum grace period can be set up to support quicker allocation of sessions.
